THE GRANDEUR OF DELUSIONS is a comedy of manners. Rick and Ruby Jeffreys are an entitled and wildly eccentric couple that exist in inheritance and isolation in a New York Park Avenue penthouse. It is the summer of 1959. Their long-suffering servant Chan-Quee serves their every need. Their teenage daughter June is home for the summer and free to get into trouble. John, their only friend lives directly across the street. Armed with a powerful pair of binoculars, he keeps vicarious and voyeuristic watch on the family. Rick and Ruby entertain themselves with pet projects and sexual adventure. Equipped with wild imaginations, loose morals and endless money they are free from the cares of the world. They are due for a fall. The unlikely arrival of an intrepid couple of tourists pushes the family over the edge.

THE MONKEY HEAD (2022) is a feature film directed by Cassandra Lozano. Written and edited by Mason Rader. Art, animations and special effects are by Mason Rader and Cassandra Lozano.  The film will be submitted to film festivals in Fall 2022.    

1963 Los Angeles. A young Hollywood star is the prime suspect when her husband turns up dead in their pool one sunny morning. The event has taken a toll on June Jeffreys’ career and psyche. Dr. Kay Kleenex is there for her. But what’s the deal with the mangy stuffed monkey head in the doctor’s office? Is the Dr. perhaps overly attached to it? In the following 20 years June goes from Hollywood star to political radical, from pop music stardom to Saturday morning cartoon and on to T.V. guru huckster… All the while under continuing suspicion of murder. Dr. Kleenex is the monkey who won’t get off June’s back. Dr. Kleenex is also the unreliable narrator and these are her picaresque adventures.
